Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

just seen the new movement range and looked at the spark and the thunder, they seem very similar in terms of dimensions and weight (spark slightly lighter). can anyone tell me what the actual differences between these models actually are though?

no...but have skied the Spark and it is a very good all-round ski. Talked to people who should know and they say that the Thunder is quite stiff, light and a good tourer.
I would say that the Spark is light enough to do that job as well.

I have Dukes mounted on Glads but my feeling is that they will ski quite short so may well go for a Goliath with Dukes. Again people say that the Thunder is the stiffist of the lot, as the Goli's are medeium stiff. This is all relative until you have tried them.

I would say Glads ansd the Spark are med stiff....

I have skied the Spark a lot and all over and I just want more girth for deeper snow, and have skied the Glads at a snowdome...which might be an unfair, or not conclusive test on the latter

If the Thunder is a bigger all-round ski that the Spark then that would suit me fine, but a shop who I trust says they are completely different.................Yes, I am confused as well

hmmmmm got me thinking now, will have to try the thunders at chill factor tomorrow. the websit sorta es the same description i.e. mid-fat all round mountain ski. like you say it must be the flex coz they wouldnt just release 2 models that are virtually the same just shooting themselves in the foot then. will be interesting to find out how different they are. just out of interest do you know how much they are?

colors, guessing ..about £ 370 ish...

I would think you could get last years Spark which is probably the same ski, at a good price..if you can find them. I am not sure if you can find a bargian Thunder.

I would guess the Thunder is like an Outlaw..but less heavy..and the Spark a snappier Recon...but we could do with someone confirming this. The shop I used gave me the impression they were complately a different ski to the Spark..which put me off trying the Thunder...regret that..!!

Try Telemark-P for the Thunders and let us know what you think about then in test. I wasn't that knocked out with Glads in a snowdome.. but as I say, that might be unfair...

What do you want them for... ? I have skied 4-5 prs of Sparks and the tune makes a diff..... A friend of mine skied them and didn't think so much..and I have had a few that weren't that great. I would put this down to the tune on the day from the shop. I've railed Sparks on a really icy black which was so steep they had nets out...that sold them to me that day...

My brother tried the thunders and goliaths from the shop he worked at while in Whistler but not the sparks. I also tried the thunders for a short go but i wouldn't say it gave me any grounds to base a review on. My brother however said they were actually the best all mountain ski he's ever skiied. Worked well on piste and did a good job in pow as well. He said if he was after an all mtn ski then that would defitniely be it but he's wanting something a bit bigger so is now after a pair of goliaths.

want something that can handle varying conditions, i.e. ice, hard park, groomers, off piste all relatively well. dont expect them to be as specialised as race skis on piste or big fat skis off piste but something that will handle more of a variety of conditions because you never know what conditions you will get until you are there and dont want to be taking 2 pairs of skis with me everytime.

did originally look at the movement hype and am still interested in trying them out to ski how they feel

Psst... some unmounted thunders 185 probably 04 model when they were proper stiff, 185, hot waxed so haven't dried out. Might let em go if the offer's right (or swap for a reverse reverse funshape wink ) though have always wanted to get on them one day myself as a piste/hardpack ski.

Never skied either but the thunders seem rather stiff in the shop

I've seen two pairs of new 07/08 187cm thunders around here. One pair in www.freeze-scotland.com and another in Ellis Brigham at Braehead. Both pairs were around £200 i think.
