Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Rossignol B2 Bandit + Telemark

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi, long time no post.

Anyway as life is not perfect much like my skiing I can't afford new skis this winter. So does anyone have any thoughts about fitting telemark bindings to my Rossignol B2's as I am going to make the move away from alpine to telemark permanent. Seems relatively sensible to me in the absence of a big fat pair of K2's or Karhus.

Cheers,

Clarkee

Best use for a B2 IMO. Do it. Get some Cobras, good value and great binding.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I did exactly this last year. Dumped my alpine boots and had great fun.

Do I see climbing wires on those Cobra bindings as standard?

clarkee76, yes, for one position. Extra bit of plastic to get higher, I don't bother...

I always prefer alpine skis over the softer tele skis for mounting tele, and had thought about mounting some B2 or 3's in the past should be great fun.

ski, I haven't skied HHs, would love to give it a try. I have Cobras, BD 02s and Bishop Bombers.

The Cobras are cheap and simple. The BD02s give me amazing feel, I like how active they are and are really powerful - they turn my 115mm underfoot 191cm skis no problem. The Bishops suck although I have only skied them on 130mm waisted skis, but my initial thoughts are soggy, heavy bottle openers that look great regardless of what ski they're on...

I still stand by my comment though. I prefer BD bindings over all of the others but they have feel quite different to any other cable binding. Cobras are just straight forward.

B2s sound fine - I've largely learnt to tele on some old skool 1st gen XXXs and they've been plenty whippy in the turns. Some quiver adjustment to do this winter though.

wow that does suck as i thought they would be the nuts. I think phillipstanton bought some and mentioned that they have second ski mounting option kinda like VIST. you mount a very light machined out plate on the ski and the binding is bolted to this with an allen key. gives you a bit of for aft adjustment as well as being able to use on multiple skis...

Know several people on Hammerheads who love them, more binding reviews at Telemarktips.com. Still old school with Voile 3-pin hardwires myself, but I like a simple, never leave me stuck binding.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much
