Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

First time boot buying..

Wow thanks for all the information guys, I seem to have inadvertantly created a debate mind! I'm skiing in Andorra this year so to avoid too much running around (I know my gang of skiiers arn't the types to wait for me if i spend a few hours boot fitting!) I will probably buy in the UK for my first pair. And that Ski Lodge shop is so close to me it would be a shame to miss the opportunity to browse all their posh kit! Thanks though for all the info, it's nice to know there are no brands etc i should be steering clear of, I'll let the boot fitter pick a pair for me but obviously insist they match my ski gear like Ordhan suggested!

Nossy, good luck with your purchase, just make sure they AT LEAST shell check the boot [you should have read it at least once on here by now] if they tell you they don't shell check because [and i have been told this by one supposedly good retailer] "when you have been fitting boots for as long as we have, you know how they all fit and don't need to do that" leave and go anywhere else

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Megamum, I have a pair of Falcon Race boots and a pair of Impact 10 both very stiff and tight boots but with a good boot fitter (I may name my 1st child after him they are the most comfortable things ever! The only time I undo the buckles is when they are going on and coming off and the end of a day

Ordhan, Fairly Stiff would be a more accurate description given the scale of things.

Nossy,

I bought a pair of boots from Barry Ski lodge - lovely comfortable fit. I discovered later that they were 2 sizes too big for me and pretty useless (£160 down the pan) rolling eyes Listen to CEM's advice about checking the shell size. Alternatively, your only 2 hours away from CEM's place - why not get a specialist to help you with your first boots?
