Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Solo skier looking for twin room share for 7 nights in Saalbach from 27-Dec

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi all, I'm an absolute novice skier so basically looking for someone to split twin room share costs for that week (trying my best to avoid paying a single supplement).

It probably won't be feasible for us to ski together as I'll be taking my first in-resort lessons when I get there and will also be spending three to four of those days doing some serious snowsports photography (never fear, I'll be doing a further seven days of dedicated skiing when friends arrives a week later).

Age and gender are not important. I'm aiming to get a few early nights as taking photos (or learning to ski!) drunk or hungover is not really an option. So, someone who wants to be up early to get in some good skiing/boarding time would probably be more suitable. If you're a really good skier/boarder, I'd be more than happy to spend some time getting action shots of you on the slopes. Smile

The plan is to book accommodation close to the pedestrian centre of the village and ski lifts - somewhere clean and with en-suite bathroom. Other than that, I'm not too fussed as the only time I plan to spend there is when I'm sleeping.

If you're interested, PM me and let me know your accommodation budget.

Some tour operators, usually those with chalets, offer a male/female share where they find you someone to share a twin room. If they can't find someone then you get a twin room to yourself with no supplement. I haven't done this for a while so I'm not sure which companies offer that at present.

Many hotels don't charge a single supplement.

One thing to be weary of is that in Austria the twin beds might be two mattresses on one double bed frame. These are usually referred to as Austrian-twins.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Zero-G, if you contact the tourist office in Saalbach, they'll send you a list of Pensions that have single rooms. Often these don't cost any/much more than half of a twin.

Excellent, things are looking up! I feel the faint stirrings of pre-shoot/pre-holiday excitement. Saddo that I am, I love the planning as much as the doing...
