Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Accommodation in Morzine

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have a request for help. I am trying to arrange for a group of 12/13 to learn to ski in Morzine for a long weekend. Most likely 30th Jan. Most have not skied before and I want to keep costs reasonable. We have our own place so have never needed accommodaion before. Any suggestions??

dixon66, What about that place in Montriond! Though as you know nobody wants to rent out for a weekend, when you can get full week occupancy. It may be difficult with a group of that size.

Good luck.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

dixon66, are you looking for everyone to be in one chalet or in separate apartments in the same area? I don't think we can help with this as our apartment is close to yours in La Grande Terche but we were looking at doing something similar to this for a group of us in March/April for possibly a long weekend. There's no way we'd all fit in ours and we kind of think it would be nice to be all in one place anyway.

Hope you find somewhere!

Dan

Contrary to most postings there are companies and a few intrepid chalet owners prepared to do weekends. Worth persevering.

dixon66, I've stopped with SKi Whitegold (no relation to the poster here I think), who have a spot in Montriond, a couple of times. They have a quite big chalet (quite close to bus stop that goes either to Morizne or the gondola station) and seem to specialise in short / flexible breaks, price isn't to much, their a nice friendly bunch and the food is good. You can PM me for their details.

dixon66 - you could try www.morzinelets.com - I'm pretty sure that one of the Ridge Hotel in Montriond or Rhodos Hotel in Morzine are available on a per night basis.

You could also try sending a message to SnowAndTrek here on the forum as she has weekend accommodation available and oodles of local knowledge and contacts.

One thing to bear in mind is that none of the ski schools offers beginners group lessons over the weekend - they all start on Sunday or Monday and run for 5 days. So you'll need to book private lessons. And you'll need to do it reasonably far in advance to get an instructor. BASS Morzine are very good.

Hi, last Jan we had a long w/end using http://www.thechaletco.com/

3 of us stayed at their Plan de Pierrys chalet. Whilst set up above Morzine and a bit of a steep 10 min walk down to town, we had a daily pick up and drop off service to lifts and a ski hire service to the door should you need it. The chalet staff (a delightful young Kiwi couple) couldn't do enough for you. Having also noted comments on this site about 'vegeterian skiing', I'm virtualy vegeterian and the hosts here did a fantastic job and no fuss.

Very flexible operation allowing you to arrive and leave as you wish rather than a fixed time schedule. Flowing wine, great Ipod music, roaring fire, hot tub, table tennis in the garage and a stunning panoramic window view from the lounge out aross the down hill run in Morzine particularly when the ski school do their torchlight descent.

A pick up service which you rang from the bar just before your downhill desent from Avoriaz and there they were waiting. They even opened a beer for you to take to your room whilst unpacking.

Couldn't fault them. Very relaxing.
