norris, Flaine is pig ugly - proably the very ugliest - but the alpine scenary around it is breathtaking as your wonderful pictures clearly show. Great shot on the big white lump itself

red 27, nope but Flaine was designed by the eminent Bauhaus architect Marcel Breuer, well-known designer of buildings around the world.
Flaine was at the time of buiding very forward thinking and is a classic piece of architecture...
Anyway, Tignes is far uglier!

I have to confess to being of the Architectural persuasion in a former life - I'm more a Nash man though - Bauhaus too brutalist for me - too germanic.

norris, the scenery in Flaine was breathtaking, and the buildings were designed to blend into the mountainside when you are looking at them from above. (it works more or less, when it is snowy)
