Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Topsheet repairs...

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Bought a dead cheap (but brilliant) Stepchild board off ebay and it's in okay nick.

There are some slight gouges out of the base from rocks, but these will be easily filled with wax. however, there are some nick in the top sheet that I would like to fill - are there any specialist products and procedures for filling the top sheet?

I've used Araldite int he past, which although not looking amazing, works well. Just wondered if there's a 'proper' product for repairs like this? I take it boards and skis are the same for repairs like this?

If it Araldite works and you have it lying around use it but you should P-Tex the base. You can also use clear P-Tex for the topsheet too.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The_Hirsty, cheers matey. The guy I bought it off had a rock gouge ont he base PTEXed in a shop and it's a good job. Might just aralidte the scuzzy bits and see if it last. It was only £30 for the board and I might just use it for the snowdomes to save my other board.

Specialman, Araldite is the correct stuff, specifically their 2011 adhesive (or 2010 which is faster drying) which is flexible & waterproof. Pigments can be added to get a colour but most don't bother. Best to overfill the repair & then trim/sand down flush.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

spyderjon, cheeers matey. Think you've given me advice about this before. As I've said, araldite worked on my other board but didn't know if there was a 'proper' way of fixing. Best dig out the glue then and get busy tonight... Smile
