Anyone living near Stoke ski centre - you missed a brilliant morning! The best conditions I've seen on an artificial slope, couldn't believe the place was empty. The snow didn't exactly cover the slope but it made it feel like the real thing. I was surprised how much edge grip there was, expected it to get more slippery.

FenlandSkier, that's good - heading down to Lincolnshire on Friday, so fingers crossed there'll be some snow (but not enough to cause GNER any problems!)

Les Arcs - Tuesday 21st. Climbing up through the thick mists on the valley floor, the funicular broke through into bright sunshine around 1000m. Same as yesterday - cold, lights winds up at Arc 2000, lots of powder, still very quiet, with hardly any queues - this despite a number of pistes (and the cable car to the Aiguille Rouge) still being closed while work is done to make the runs secure. Still a high avalanche risk though, so we stuck close to the main routes; what a day, even if I ate more than my fair share of powder
Could have skied right back down to Les Arcs, but it was getting dark and the low cloud had climbed to just below 1600 by 5 pm. More sunshine and very low temperatures, until Friday - then more snow is forecast Friday afternoon with heavier falls Saturday - if it turns out that way, couldn't be better for Christmas week!

After the bad start to the season, are we now up to the levals expected after the last 10 days snowfall? |
If you're referring to Zermatt I don't know, generally though the answers no. I'll post some photo's over the next day or so that illustrates it. It's pretty good skiing but the base is non-existant.

I would not rely on any of these forecasts. For the last six hours it has been a whiteout in Andorra, Pas De La Casa - snowforecast has predicted 1cm. The Grandvalira website suggests 45 cm has fallen today and that roads are closed - not nice because its transfer day !
