Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Mental note - Never, ever leave my "gear enquiry snowheads page" up so my wife can find it Embarassed

She's found my posts, but rather than shout at me - she fancies a new pair herself now.

So to hijack this thread a little, what sort of length should she be looking at. She's skiied about 14 years, 5' 8" and 130 lbs (9 1/2 stone) and I'd recon skiis about level 5/6 a on the slush and rubbbble scale.

Please help me off the hook Very Happy

Marc, any length between chin and forehead, so that's probably in the 158-164 range, say 160.

marc gledhill, it completely depends on the ski. An examiner I know who is probably a little lighter than your bride skis the b5 in a 152. My general rule is to get a ski that's as short as reasonable that doesn't cause instability. I'll likely have my bride on a 150-160, depending on the ski, and she's about the size of your wife.

pollittcl, could you tell me a bit more about how you decided on the gamma 320? I'm trying to choose between that and the 724 ext; like you i'm classed as an advanced skier and love to go fast on the blues but will toss in a few bumps / real steeps now and then to mix it up.

what other skis have you tried / liked? are you skiing mainly groomed powder or any ice / hardpack?

thanks SO much -

Update and warning:
The list on the first page of this thread is a bit dated by now, there are many new skis that should be included if I was to compile it again.

Tinkerbelle's final decision was for the '04/'05 Dynastar Exclusive Carve. Never once a regret on that. About 3 months after the purchase, the 'women's specific' modifications that were done to her original boots (Lange WC 100 Team) were thrown out to start with a blank slate in a shell 2 sizes smaller (Lange Comp 120W ) and never found necessary after.

I hate it when ssh is so consistently right. rolling eyes Laughing

EDIT: welcome gskivt
