Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Good report, was there at the same time as you (albeit for 10 weeks more). Someone would need to check up on this but I think Lake Louise is the largest area.

Snow quality agreed but Lake Louise terrain is far better. What did you think of the Horse? We had about 90cm fresh when we were there-insane day-best hill i've ever ski ed but the lfit system does not make sense.

Good report - was there first two weeks in March Smile have to agree with arv, LL is the larger of the two areas. Runs on sunshine often seemed very short compared to LL. Temple Lodge is a great place to eat at LL, and if you go to the seated area upstairs its usually less busy( have to wait to be seated ) and the prices arnt much different to the self serve section. wink

Spent two days at Kicking Horse, thoroughly enjoyed it and heading there again this year for the start of our trip Toofy Grin

Thanks for the feedback guys, I agree that the terrain at Louise was more interesting with longer runs than Sunshine.

Thanks for pointing out that Louise is marginally "larger" than Sunshine in terms of skiable acres (4,200 to 3,358) and cumulative piste length (100km to 82km), I was comparing numbers of lifts (1 gondola & 5 chairs to 1 gondola & 9 chairs), so poor choice of word, now wondering if I should go back and edit for accuracy. The point I was trying to make is that these ski areas aren't mega-resorts like the big linked resorts in the Alps.

I liked the vibe at the Horse, only spent one day there, conditions weren't perfect lower down but was nice up in the bowls. The resort started off as the ski hill for the town of Golden (it was called Whitetooth back then), it was just the chairs on the lower half. Then they grafted that new gondola on top to open up the upper half with it's bowls and chutes, maybe that's why it doesn't quite work. You seem to end up dropping all the way to the base area to get back to where you want to be.

To ski terminator ridge I wish you didn't have to go all the way back down to the gondola, a chair from half way to top gondola station would be ideal but then it may track out too quickly hmmm

luigi, well we've been a couple of times and do like it there. You can get packages pretty cheap and love Banff itself. Just a shame the liftpass is so expensive. A slight mark against it is that you can't get to the ski hill and then find you've left something back at the hotel - have to be organised! Toofy Grin (We use the ski bus)
