Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Fuel Surcharge refund?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just got a mail purporting to offer a refund of Fuel surcharges ona trip a couple of seasons back

Quote:

This notification is being sent to you regarding a proposed settlement that has been reached in a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that British Airways Plc and Virgin Atlantic Airways, Ltd. unlawfully conspired to fix prices of fuel surcharges imposed on “long-haul” passenger fares. Long-haul flights include most flights between the U.K. and non-E.U. destinations, including flights to and from the United States. All flights on Virgin Atlantic qualify as long-haul. Tickets must have been purchased between 11 August 2004 and 23 March 2006.

Attached to this email are copies of the court-ordered Notice and a Claim Form that you can file to apply to participate in the Settlement. Members of the Class who file a valid claim will be paid 33.3% of the passenger fuel surcharge they paid on qualifying coupons. Refund payments will range between £4 and £20 per passenger per round-trip ticket purchased in the U.K. and between $7 and $34 per passenger per round-trip ticket purchased in the U.S.

For more information about the terms of the proposed Settlement, please read the attached legal notice. You may also visit www.airpassengerrefund.co.uk. If you would prefer to file a Claim Form electronically, there is an on-line Claim process available on the website.

nbt, it has been widely covered in the press (and I think in teh BA in-flight magazine if my memory from last week serves), it is genuine. Unfortaunately my qualifying flight was purchased outside of the UK.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

nbt, yes it is genuine. I've claimed for a couple of flights in that period - the online procedure is very simple, especially if you are members of either the BA or Virgin frequent flyer schemes.

Yeh I had it today as well - I assume BA and Virgin ffclubs have had to provide their email lists.

I'm not a Frequent Flyer, but I did provide an email address as we went for a ticketless option - right, every penny counts so I'll get that form filled in!
