- Avoriaz : 7 pistes out of 50 open thanks to artificial snowmaking (10 cms at resort level and 20 at altitude.).
- Chamonix : 0 pistes open.
- Chamrousse : 0 pistes open.
- Courchevel : 2 pistes out of 103 open.
- Deux Alpes : 17 pistes out of 73 open (10 cms at resort level and 40 at altitude).
- Gets (les) : 0 pistes open.
- Isola 2000: 23 pistes out of 45 ouvertes (40 cms at resort level and 50 at altitude.).
- Mégève : 0 pistes open.
- Ménuires : 8 pistes out of 64 open, 15 cms at resort level and 25 at altitude.
- Morzine : 0 pistes open.
- Orcières-Merlette : 9 pistes out of 53 open (40 cms at resort level).
- Orres : 7 pistes out of 34 open with an average of 30 cms of cover.

MASSIF CENTRAL
Too warm to open in most resorts, other than one equipped with artificial snow-making.
- Besse-Super Besse : 0 pistes open.
- Le Lioran :1 piste (Grande Familiale) open thanks to artificial snow (20 to 30 cms of cover).
- Le Mont Dore :0 pistes open (temperatures averaging 10 °C on Monday 13th).
PYRENEES
Best conditions to be found here, generally good cover.
- Font Romeu : 14 pistes out of 36 open – could have been more but limited because of lack of skiers. To be extended next weekend.
- La Mongie : 30% of the ski area open (18 pistes out of 69) with 20 cms at resort level and 50 at altitude.
- Luz Ardiden : 88% of the ski area open with good cover (25 cms at resort level and 60 at altitude.).
JURA
Just a few cross country areas open at present. Temperatures between 5 and 10°C Monday 13th.

Thank you, PG. With 25 years experience of skiing this is informative but really nothing new. The vagaries of the Alpine snow fall are here for all to see. Enjoy the snow, folks.

Thnaks PG. I'm about to book for Val D for Christmas week - even if the pormised snow doesn't arrive I guess there'll be something to ski on. Even if not, it's a pretty enough village in which to spend Christmas (obviously everything is relative. Dave. East London).

A quick update.....
There is snow on the pist and it is being pisted, but they have only opened a souple of runs (info via telecon tody), saving it for the Christmas hols perhaps?

La Toussuire in Les Sybelles seems to be doing very nicely, check out the wbe cam, drop down box on the left then gives you the camera shots available (they are actually short mpeg type clips). La T is at 1800m to 2620m

The unpredictable Dolomites, on the other hand, are doing better than usual.
