Poster: A snowHead
|
We are considering a trip early January and wondered whether anyone who has been previously could give any advice on the best location for accomodation as there appears to be several options arround the base of the mountain.
We probably will not be driving so would need to be fairly close to lift access.
Thanks.
Stephen.

Steve.S, You have chosen a good region. What level of skiing ability of the group? Kronplatz has something for everyone, blacks and blues (could be my bruises!!) but would not be extensive. If you want to do milage however, I would suggest you look at staying in the main Sella area.
Depending where you stay in Kronplatz, closest would be san Vigilin, ski, bus, lift, easy run to La Villa, Gondola and two mor lifts and a long gentle run takes you to the main Sella Ronda about an hour. Would be longer if you are on the other side of the Kronplatz say Brunico. If you had a car however it would probably be about 45 mins drive to Corvara.
An absolutely beautiful area, you will enjoy!

Roy Hockley,
Thanks Ray, we have several first trippers with us who have learned on Castleford and Chill Factor plus early to mid intermediates.
The skiers amongst us have been to the Dolomites a couple of times but Kronplatz seems to offer something for everyone including by the the look of things some reasonable Apres.
We are not particulary high mileage skiers so it doesn't need to be to extensive but it does look like there may be some interesting runs for us.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Steve.S, They will enjoy as you no doubt already know. As I said you can get to the main Sella Ronda via bus from San Vigilin to Pedraces if you want to explore, I doubt the beginners will be able for it as it needs to go down a black to San Vigilin although you can always either take taxi from Brunico to SV or else take the Gondola down!
Not too sure of the Apres?
Have fun.
