Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Last minute deals Jan 09 - options other than big French resorts for a group?

Evening all
Did a last minute deal with Skiworld to Belle Plagne last December and got an excellent deal.
Am looking for an action replay mid Jan 09, but looking for options ideally to include resorts other than the big French ones - maybe something in Italy or Austria, relaxed whether hotel or chalet. Group of about 8, but happy to split into 2 different places in same resort. Fall back probably Les Arcs which seems like a nice backstop...
Anyone got any experience of good last minute deals to these countries and if so good resorts, advice from personal last minute deals etc? Mostly intermediate skiiers looking for larger skiing areas.
cheers, Patrick

A lot of the "larger ski areas" are those well known French ones, obviously. You've picked a very good time for a last minute bargain, so you could be lucky, but it's in those resorts where they have lots of accommodation that the TOs tend to have discounts. Wait till the last minute and see what comes up - you can get some very swift feedback on Snowheads on any likely candidates. You might find that you open up some interesting options if you look for a varied ski area, rather than necessarily a large one. Some motorway pistes are very like other motorway pistes!

patrick318, For a good deal you will probably have to wait until the xmas holiday. Find out what is on offer and then many snowHead can give you an objective resume of the resorts. At the moment you are asking for a length of a piece of string!

Find out your options and get back to us.

To get good deals for more than about 4 people, you need reorts that have a lot of accommodation.

Outside France, that could mean somewhere like Mayrhofen (with which you get the whole of the Zillertal ski areas), or perhaps Selva in Italy (with the whole Sella Ronda area available).

Both of those would be suitable for mainly intermediates.

patrick318, Skiworld offer a discount for returning customers - and don't just go to France - so you might do well to look at their site first when you are looking (I am not financially involved with Skiworld but was v impressed with them this April).

Nick L, we had a lovely chalet holiday with them in Les Arcs a few years ago.
