Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Family holiday being planned for March/April. Just a few requirements!!
need easy access to slopes, one non skier whose husband will need to visit her
would be nice for non skier to meet us for lunch
baby involved too !
I don't think that a creche full time is needed but the non skier may be persuaded to give skiing a go
Self catering not a problem, we are used to it
All but one very good skiers, but the one who isn't a good skier has been scared witless in the past
any suggestions?

margaret, Take an apartment in Zermatt. Plenty of challenging skiing to be found. Big resort, so plenty of novice slopes and english speaking instruction. Train/cable/car and gondola access to most of the peaks, so meeting up with non skiers is straightforward. Lots' to see and do off the ski slopes, many of the visitors to Zermatt don't ski, it's a year round resort.

margaret, Les Gets is good if you have a none skier with you, plenty for them to do.

Les Arcs. Easy access to slopes and if you plan in advance which bit of Les Arcs you want to have lunch, the non skier can get the bus there. Gets them out and about!

Snowbunny - methinks you like it steep and deep and hence Zermatt! Twisted Evil I have two young 'uns and wouldn't have taken them as babies to Zermatt. Getting the electric bus to the lift stations, negotiating steps to cablecars and dragging a pushchair across pistes is not that easy. I would look at a more gentle resort for ski in ski out - or near to lifts . Maybe Peisey-Vallandry - good childcare there. Les Gets would be good as well - it is pretty and chocolate box style with lots of walks, restuarants, bus service to Morzine, and other actvities such as snowshoeing, etc. Courchevel 1850/1650. Oz en Oisans is a little known treasure that is great for families on the Alpe d'Huez ski network. All of these resorts have large ski areas and something for the advanced skier. Peisey-Vallandry has the least for a non-skier but what do non skiers do all day? Go for a walk, pop to the shops, swim, read a book, tobogan, etc - can do that in all just about.

snowbunny, It is quite a nice town! I may have read wrongnly but with a baby involved the parent/guardian will probably be resigned in this instantce to walk around shops etc. The same problem as Zermatt.

Zermatt is a great place but could be awkward to meet up with baby minder unless they go up the mountain to eat. It could take too long for the skiers to get back up to the slopes twice, morning and after lunch. That said however taking the baby up the mountain to eat would be preferable to eating in the town.

margaret, Enjoy the holiday!

Could do worse than Val d'Isere - the 'nervous skier' can always take one of various lifts down at the end of the day if they are not up to the ski down....

Easy access to slopes, easy to get up the mountain to meet for lunch, good town with plenty for the non-skier to do, plenty of childcare available

margaret, Serre Chevalier, reasonably priced, easy access for non-skier to the mountain (cable car in Chantemerle to meet for lunch, and choice of three restaurants at the top) Regular ski bus service so they could explore Briancon or the other villages. Creches are good, and there are some lovely new MGM apartments, just yards from the lifts with a swimming pool in Chantemerle too, as well as several decent restaurants to eat out in the evenings. There is also the new thermal baths in Monetier-les-Bains. Reasonable transfer from Turin airport, served by both Easyjet, adn Ryanair. Gentle slopes for the nervous, plenty of off-piste for the good skiers, and you can do a trip to La Grave.

margaret, Les Deux Alpes. All mountain restaurants bar one are accessible to pedestrians (although I wouldn't recommend taking a baby up to to glacier - too high). Lots to do in the town, regular free buses all around the town, flat town for push chairs, nursery slopes are right there and are very extensive (indeed some of the slopes in the village are not nursery slopes at all). 2nd biggest off piste domain in france (according to one champion free rider), La Grave nearby, glacier for guaranteed skiing regardless. Lots of unmarked and unpisted black skiing for the expert skiers. Average 300 days of sunshine a year ..... Very Happy Very Happy

Courchevel 1850 ticks all the boxes.

Or Meribel if you're a bit downmarket.
