Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

could not have our final fix this year because Daughter was getting married at Easter. (no money left!) So i have just booked a cheeky pre Christmas trip to Zermatt. How likely is it that we shall be able to ski most of it (good intermediates) at this time of year or shall I be spotted walking up the pistes for lunch sporting my new helmet Toofy Grin

The literature that I read from the tourist office showed a large percentage of the runs covered by snow making so there should be a reasonable amount of man made. Natural snow at this time of the year is lap of the gods though.

We were in Cervinia in December 2006 (pre Christmas), and in what was a poor year early season most of Zermatt was open down to about 1800m.

One of the flat glacier slopes in Zermatt. There were quite a few professional bump skiers failing to descend this upright Toofy Grin

My favourites were black 62 Furg - Furi, Red 29/26 Gornergrat to Gant, and Red 19 Fluhalp, and don't forget you can take a trip over to Cervinia as well.

At that time of year, you should expect about 30 - 50% of the lifts to be open in Zermatt.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

margaret, went round to Zermatt for a day (from Saas-Fee) about that time last December. Started on Sunegga, went over to Riffelberg and then up the Klein Matterhorn. A few runs were closed, but there was no thought of walking. In a week you should be able to do it all. Nevertheless, it will depend on the early snow next season.
