Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

fatbob,

No....he'd blow it ( DM, that is ) if you dangled a good bottle anywhere near him...

Can't see this happening as the sock puppet would blow the cover, I reckon.

And as for the other muppet, don't encourage them ... Laughing

JT, you calling me a muppet? wink or a sock puppet? Twisted Evil

I would like to point out that I have had plenty of skiing in Utah where there are NO wine laden balconies beckoning... (sadly)

Whitegold, many/most(?) people can't "learn by watching" - and frankly, kicking off by standing at the top of a zipline with two complex planks in hand is only going to end in tears. Why am I even rising to your bait?

David Murdoch,

I've met you so you can't be the sock puppet...or a muppet as it happens. Laughing

No, it applies to someone else...although that is far too tame a word for such a nasty piece of work. I've seen it in action and I've seen the e-mails.. rolling eyes

JT, thank you! Hmmm, in that case I reckon a ski off is an appropriate action. May I select the weapon of choice?

Well, I found the best way to improve my skiing was a few good quality lessons combined with a week of roaring round the slopes with the rest of you you. It worked for me and was great fun and very rewarding.

The number-one best way to become a great skier is to find a steep, tall mogul field and just go up and down it all day, every other day for 2 weeks.

Rubbish.

Lessons are for winners.

I guess the crosscountry coaching failed Very Happy - my overall time was down on last year. In the 655m flat sprint race I managed 2min 4 secs, 3 secs faster than last year Smile. In the 1135m sprint race which includes a hill (both up and down) I managed 4min 3 secs, some 6secs slower than last year Sad. Overall my combined time was 3 secs down on last year at 6min 7secs. For comparison the winning combined time was 4min 10secs from one of our worldcup qualified skiers.

We also did some head to head knockout races on the 1135m course and I knocked my time down by 18 secs to 3min 45sec partly because I was racing against someone rather than against myself in the time trial, mainly because I drafted the leader for 3/4 of the course but failed to get past him and lost by the length of a rollerski.

To be fair last year my times were markedly faster than the previous year and my technique improved a lot more last year than this as it started much worse. My fitness levels may be less this year as my bike to work times are slightly down aswell.
