Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

BBC reports the boom in independent skiers

Skiers travelling independently (free of a tour operator) now make up 25% of the ski market, a rise of 300% over 5 years, according to the BBC, quoting figures from the Ski Club of Great Britain.
James Cove (photographed) reports the factors behind the trend - led by the rise of low-cost airlines - and he gives a couple of tips on how to get in on the act yourself...

Here's the report, on the BBC Online site.

SnowHeads has a mass of information for the independent skier, and the best way to access it is via our search facility (top left of screen, via drop-down menu 'User Facilities'). Type in key words and narrow the search to your needs. Relevant discussion threads will be shown.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

"For many it's too much effort to co-ordinate the arrangements, their holiday is not bonded and they have no rep in the resort to help them out," says Stuart MacLeod, the managing director of the Specialist Holiday Group that owns Crystal, Thompson and Simply Ski.

Yeah right.

Effort - maybe half a dozen emails to sort Hotel. Fifteen minutes for flights and same for car hire.

Bonded - pay by credit card and it is secure.

No Rep - That's a good thing then Twisted Evil . If you really need help (and with what I can't think) there's Tourist Information Offices or the Hotel staff.

If the package boys can't use buying power and discounts to undercut the total price, then they're going to struggle.
