Don't think that is a very good survey.
How to deal with being stuck depends on the terrain and I’m sure everyone chooses the most efficient method to get them unstuck; either a little hop to get over a small ridge you didn’t quite clear, a full on hike to get out over a frozen lake or a wade/swim/try and lie on board to get out of deep powder.
I guess you are designing or marketing a snowboard pole or similar then?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

This ^
Entirely depends on the situation, I've done pretty much all the things you've suggested (with the exception of using either my pole of that of another) to get out of being stuck off piste.

Putting it politely, lol.......
But IME...........A ski/snowboard or any other kind of 'pole' is effectively useless in the scenario you propose (the wrong side of gravity). Unclip and hike out is the normal outcome, maybe scooting if you're in a small hollow, but you should have seen that coming..........

Perhaps woodspaul12345 should watch the "Cham Cham" episode of Thunderbirds and see the ski thrusters that Lady P and Tin Tin used.

What is the "chop and sweep" method referred to in the survey?
