Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ice rink in Tignes

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm a skating fiend. Off to Tignes this weekend - apparently there's an outdoor ice rink? www.tignes.net and google reveal absolutely nuffink. Assume when the lake itself freezes it's used as the rink? Could anyone who's been to Tignes please enlighten me?

Thanks.

I have no recollection of an ice rink (I was there in Feb), but I wasn't looking for one. Presumably the lake would only work if it was cleared of snow (not that I know anything about ice skating - perhaps it's better with a foot or two of snow, at least one's falls would be cushioned).

Manda, Always used to be at Tignes Le Lac in front of the Palafour complex. Haven't been for a while but I presume it is still there. Yup its outdoor.

I read in one brochure that one activity available at Tignes le Lac is ice diving i.e they cut a hole in the ice and you swim underneath the ice (suitably equipped with sub-aqua gear including a drysuit and a safety line). I guess the lake is fine for ice skating as long as you keep away from these holes Shocked

The lake is usually covered in snow with x country tracks over it, but I think the bit infront of the palafour is cleared for skating.
