love to, but my sick days are spent this season! You'll have no trouble hooking up with someone on the hill to show you around, Cairngorm have ambassadors who are usually out and about and might be your best bet for a guided tour or couple of laps to familiarise yourself (look for the yellow jakcets, should be one or two around pretty much every day at the moment). Midweek there are generally plenty of folk who ski alone so again you'll have no bother finding someone to ski about with. Enjoy, it's great up there right now

Just a brief report. Enjoyed my two days even though the reported perfection of the previous wek had mellowed a little. Pistes very good. Pretty full cover and could just ski down to Car Park. Off-piste heavy, a bit like a damp sponge and my thighs complained a lot. Warm wind from South was the culprit and by Tuesday was showing a bit more rock and heather. Pistes ,however, still good. Cracking down a near-deserted Corrie Cas reminded me so much of those wide open pistes above Siviez where you can really let go. I did ,on day 1, walk up to Cairngorm summit and ski down to Corrie Cas and repeated this on Tues with an excellent acquired acquaintance . We did the headwall (not the rocky bit as there were snow sloughs on it ) and Coronation Wall, runs I have longed to do for years . Cairngorm Hotel is brilliant, friendly, great food and a real village nucleus.
A sad aspect was to learn that my first ever ski instructor, Frith Finlayson, is now living in a home in Newtonmore. Age, etc, takes its toll and, as with the sad passing of Humph Littleton, we are left to ponder if we ourselves will ever grow old.... May I keep it at bay a little longer.
