Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Chamonix - best places to stay this summer - advice please

Strange to say, two of us plan to spend a few days walking* in early July on the Mt Blanc Massif.
Seems to me a lot of you snowHead s know the town well so where should we book for friendly reasonable accomodation whilst we're there. We're travelling by train so somewhere close to station, lifts, town centre etc would be good.
Willing to consider most options in the small hotel/chalet or even self catering range if assured of a warm welcome.
Thanks.
(*a means of locomotion which involves prior removal of skis - unlikely to catch on but who knows....)

gvj, I went for a walk this afternoon. Lovely, the woods beginning to smell of spring, snow melting all around and some trees in bud. Sorry, can't help with accommodation in Chamonix, but have a great trip. snowHead

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

gvj, for starters there's our apartments (sorry that's shameless). Our address is my sig. From a hotel POV I like the look of the Mont Blanc. The "Vallee Blanche" is OK if a little basic. The Gustavia is apparently good if you get a room not above the bar. Several SH shave stayed at the Richemond. The Morgane has a terrific restaurant and has had a very fine renovation.
