Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Pilot just missed Cairngorm restaurant before crashing

It seems that a plane narrowly missed the Ptarmigan restaurant on Cairngorm this Saturday before crashing in whiteout conditions. Skiers nearby apparently heard the Piper Saratoga aircraft go over their heads. Then, moments later, they heard a loud bang as the plane crashed into the hillside.
The pilot's body was found yesterday in the wreckage of the aircraft. About 80 rescuers had been searching in difficult conditions to find him. The plane was found about 600m south of the restaurant....Source: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2008/04/07/cairn-gorm-crash-pilot-just-missed-hitting-restaurant-86908-20375162/

An update from the local Paper is at:

http://www.strathspey-herald.co.uk/news/fullstory.php/aid/2717/Aircraft_crashed_'very_close'_to_busy_Ptarmigan.html

The plane came down in the Marquis Wells area, a shallow gully and natural snowfield that extends from the Ptarmigan Ski Tow to just short of the Summit of CairnGorm. The crash site was just 250m from the Ptarmigan T-bar and though outwith the Ski Patrol area it was only a couple of hundred metres from the patrol boundary.
