When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

British adventurer, Hannah McKeand, had to be rescued by a Canadian Forces rescue helicopter on Sunday, putting an end to her attempt to be the first woman to ski solo to the North Pole. McKeand left Ward Hunt Island at the north tip of Ellesmere Island earlier this month pulling a sled loaded with 120 kg. of supplies. Unfortunately, last Thursday, she tumbled off an ice ridge into a crevasse, wrenching her left leg, hurting her back and injuring her left shoulder....After hauling herself out of the hole, she used her satellite phone to call her operations manager in England. He advised her to set up camp on the ice and see how she felt in the morning. But, by then, she felt even worse so her manager contacted Canadian Emergency Measures.
