To anybody who did a Level 1 course this season - did you get pre-course reading and so forth before the course? If so, how soon before the course did you get it? I only ask because the BASI site refers to pre-course reading, but I haven't received any paperwork or manuals yet, and I'm doing the course at Tamworth in May.

dont hold your breath... i have never had any material sent to me prior to a course as advertised which i find intensely annoying. are you doing it through basi?

skimottaret, it's a course advertised on the BASI web site but being run by the Snowdome - similar to the way the courses work at other UK indoor venues (MK and Braehead). I don't know who the trainer will be but Gareth Roberts thought it might be him when we had lessons from him in Courchevel a couple of weeks ago as his home is fairly local. However there are several courses running at Tamworth, so he could have been wrong!
The BASI web site says we have to read a pre-course info booklet and bring it with us, and also sign a declaration before we do the course which I also haven't received. I'm trying to get organised early as I have several other courses (fitness instructor courses) coming up and I want to make sure I get all the reading done.

In my experience all the course info tends to be handed out the night before the course starts.

I did the L1 Boarding at Tamworth last year and we didn't get the manuals till the first day of the course. I don't recall signing anything before hand. I wouldn't worry.

Can't remember the pre-course booklet being particularly useful or interesting, so I wouldn't worry about not getting it until the course starts.

david@mediacopy, thank you very much. Have spoken to Snowdome and they have the materials, but BASI told them not to send them out as everybody always forgets to bring them on the course. They don't have any extras/spares. However now they know I'm reliable (cough!) they'll let me have them in advance if I pop in to collect them.

good attitiude from BASI, dont give your students the materials they need to prepare adequately for the course as they are assumed idiots to start with.
