Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Really planning ahead - Chile 2009

We like to ski in different places so have decided we quite fancy going to Chile in August 2009. Our plan is to go for three weeks, ski for two of them and do something different for the third week.

We cannot decide whether to go with a company, keep looking at Pura Adventura as their packages sound quite interesting, or go DIY, but we only have basic spanish, though plenty of time to learn a bit more.

Also what resorts, looking on the net the three main ones seem to be Portillo, Valle Nevado and Termas de Chillan. Portillo does not really appeal to me as you seem to be only able to go for a full week, and apparently model themselves on a cruise ship ideal which sounds dreadful Shocked Laughing The other two look quite interesting through, does anyone have any information on them and accommodation at them.

Finally any recommendations on what to do for the final week.

a client at work absolutely raved about Portillo in terms of the snow and off-piste potentiall

the 'catapult' drag lift would put me off however being a boarder.

Not sure that's any help at all..

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
That's the right attitude!

Another way, is spend (part of) the first week in the city. Perhaps atttend a Spanish language school? That would get you over the jet lag, altitude issues and get rested. Then you can hit the slope in full force! Do a bit of traveling and sightseeing while move camp over to your second mountain, etc...

We travelled with CASA Tours, an American company, in 2006 and had a fantastic time on their "Endless Winter" tour.

Exceptional snow, exceptional guiding and exceptional value for money - all inclusive, except international flights, lunches and drinks (ie it included 10 days guided skiing (brilliant off piste!), lift passes, avalanche transceivers, airport transfers, transport to 5 resorts (including an internal flight), bed, breakfast and all evening meals.

The highlights included incredible powder in Termas de Chillan and a hike up/ski down Villarrica - an active volcano in Pucon.

Have a look at this link for details:-

A highly recommended trip, where they keep the numbers small - 2 guides to 10 guests.
