Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

sharpen plexi?

Any tips to sharpen a plexi scraper?
Sandpaper doesn't seem to work and even when I use the sidewall planer tool on it, it doesn't seem to get as sharp as it originally used to be. Even the sides of the plexi (never used) take off more wax than the long edge.

You can use grit paper & a square block but you need to do it every time otherwise the edge will be too rounded & it'll take ages to remove enough material to get a sharp edge. You can plane it or get a pucka scraper sharpener.

I just lay a file on the bench with the tang against the vice and run the scraper along it longitudinally.

I use this Toko sharpener. Quick easy and very effective (another gadget to spend too much money on) http://www.gearbuyer.com/products/toko_scraper_sharpener.html

Megamum, its a plexiglass scraper used to scrape off the excess wax when you are hand waxing skis/boards. It needs a sharp edge so that it does actually scrape off the wax rather than just ride up over the wax.

BTW - I'm with spyderjon on this. I use something like 120 grit paper and a length of something like 2 by 2 as a guide. Works fine as long as you sharpen up every time befor a waxing session, and only takes a couple of minutes to do both long sides of the scraper.

Draw file and use a square to check... reminds me of my old time in Aerospace.
