Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

snow board to NZ - best way to do it?

 Poster: A snowHead

Has anyone any experience of shipping 2-3 snowboards, bindings & boots out to new zealand? My son is spending 2 months out there so hiring would probably be costly.

Any advice would be welcome.

gvj, I'd say the best way was for one of the parents to courier them out wink

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

gvj, if he's flying out, 2 boards would be easily doable in a board bag on BA.

New Zealand is an island, so you may get wet attempting to snowboard to NZ from another country. (I'll get me coat!) Wink

Seriously though, if he's coming from somewhere else (other than the UK/where the snowboards are) BA Cargo don't serve New Zealand so you may have to look elsewhere.

Perhaps a specialist freight agent can help. I guessed some dimensions/weight and got an estimate from Heathrow -> Auckland airport at http://www.xsbaggage.com: NZ$500 (around £200). You may well be able to find cheaper if you shop around....

Depends what you're riding, really, don't it? NehNeh Even if money was no object, not everywhere will sell everything. I know I wouldn't want to skimp on boots again ever as I love my Northwave Decade SL2s (I remember riding in an ice-storm 3000m up this January, and at points the only thing on my mind was how my toes were almost too hot), and there's no way I'm going near snow without my Skunk Ape.
