Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Headplant, no pics of the windrift. Camera isn't advanced enough to get a good shot from the lifts.
Sage advice about watching the locals.

We've just come down Moraine which is bitterly cold with a small but icey wind blowing up the valley right into your face. The ride up the lift showed exposed rock from the snow crested mounds of yesterday. As if more evidence of just how blow'y it was last night was needed, as we reached the end of the lift we could see the glacier to the left of Col fully exposed and, indeed Col is shut!

The massive compressed waves of powder have all been filled in and the unskied areas now resemble gently ripling water. Though in other parts it's like white water breaking with the hard snow crystals all bunched together in long swerving lines. Such amazing contrasts.

Another rest stop is being taken basking in the glorious sunshine at the K&F.

Ahhhhh Smile (self-satisfied sigh)

Well, that's it for a few weeks. We finished the day by skiing Dalles off Cascades a couple of times and then took Plein Sud for a beer and a slow saunter back to the apartment which, along with the entire 3V's, is still basking in glorious sunshine. There was un unscheduled schlep out of some thigh deep powder as I attempted to avoid the bumps on-piste and I realise that the injury must have happened whilst skiing low-vis off-piste on-piste on the 2nd day. That's that mystery solved then! Back to physio for me. Lucky he's ace and if you are looking for a recommendation, he's your guy if you live/work in London.

Just a shower and a bit of packing to do and it's off to the coach to Moutiers for the o'night train to Paris and on to London

Phew! No major injuries Smile I shall go to the EoSB! Smile Smile

Massive thanks to JohnnyBoy who has been a superb host, again! Smile
Such a gentleman, his Mother did a great job and should be very proud!
He's put up with an injured skiier for 5 days and let me pick all the runs with huge generosity.
However, if he even hints that my winning at Pool last night was some kind of chivelrous act - he's lieing!

Thanks JohnnyBoy. Smile ! Smile

flowa, Thanks for the photo's. I see what you mean by off piste on piste. Unfortunately I can't get to the Eosb for medical reasons so I'm having to do the arm chair skiing thing so the photo's are just what the doctor ordered Crying or Very sad Just my luck look at all that snow. Crying or Very sad It's been great following your adventures and hope to see some more posts in a few weeks. Did you go straight into work on return today or have you taken a day to come down to earth, can't imagine what it must be like to walk from the train to the office and start work. Confused Anyway hope the leg recovers, speak to you soon. HP

Headplant, so sorry that you can't make it. I'll try and post similarly while at the EoSB but it's harder to do so in a larger group, as I found at the MSB.

Yes, I did go straight to the office from the Eurostar yesterday. A quick change in the loos and a 'French shower' and I knuckled straight down to work. Or at least I tried to. You see, I acquired a very obvious ski-tan on Tuesday in the unexpectedly glorious, sunny weather and even today my face is bright red - well, except for the contrasting white eyes - so I had to endure about 20mins of having the mickel taken out of me by, clearly, jealous, colleauges. There were a few bemused smirks in the canteen at lunch too. Oh well, lucky my Kiwi'ness doesn't allow for too much shame.

Oh my goodness, you think that looks like a lot'o'snow? That's properly pisted! The light was so bad on the days inbetween that we couldn't even take pictures!!! They just didn't make sense, you couldn't see any contrast in the landscape at all. There was a bit of video of me up to my thighs on-piste on one of the snow days but it was sacrificed to make more room in the memory.... sorry.

holidayloverxx, he really does, doesn't he! snowHead
