Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lift Passes/equipment in Chamonix for 2009

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have just packaged my next year's holiday to Chamonix. Does anybody know the best place to purchase the lift passes / equipment hire (there will be 4 of us travelling). Also we will need transfers from Geneva to Chamonix (cheapest way possible).

Also as we are early advanced skiers - so we would like to book a guide to show us the best runs etc. Does anybody know who we can book this through and roughly the costs?

I know its way in advance at the moment, but we are on a budget, so just need to get a rough idea of costs etc.

Thank you in advance

ski2meuk, welcome.

Passes direct from the lift offices or online. at 185 -225 euro this year.
Transfers, a number of operators at about 70 euro return
Equipment hire, again there are many budget between 85 and 160 euro depending what you want.
Guides are around 250 euro a day but are not really the best way to get to know the runs, better to get an instructor.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Ski Fun Tours are excellent, I think we paid 60 euros a day (small groups of same ability skiers). They pick you up in the morning and take you wherever the best conditions are on the day, conditions in the Chamonix valley and surrounding area can very greatly so this is a really important advantage. They took us all around the Cham Valley resorts, to Megeve and Les Contamines and Courmayeur. The last day was the Vallee Blanche. The guides are all locals and extremely nice guys, you can ski as easy or as hard as you like.
