Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Innsbruck to Brunico by train

Poster: A snowHead
Has anyone tried the train transfer from Innsbruck to Brunico to get to the Dolomites? Am thinking of doing this to get to Kronplatz/Selva on the 15th. Also what happens in Brunico as far as getting further into the Dolomites - presumably there are plenty of taxis/buses?

tessaventer, should be pretty easy, at least it is in summer. The bus stops outside the station and takes you down to Corvara/Colfosco. I travelled from Venice rather than Innsbruck though.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

My concern is knowing the Italians the service will probably be erratic (eg only available on a Sunday)! Is there a website for the bus company with a timetable?

tessaventer, Dont know of the train service, so cant help you on that. However getting from Kronplatz to the main areas (presuming you mean Sella Ronda) are easy, ski over to San Vigilo and get a bus to Pedraces, ski to La Villa and then you are in the main alta badia region, a couple of lifts and you are in Corvara and the main circuit. Make sure you get the times of the buses and then you will not have any waiting around.

Enjoy

Roy Hockley, that's really interesting, thanks; I love the runs down from Santa Croce above Pedraces and the little church (and rifugio!) at the top.

tessaventer, email the local tourist office, they've always been outstandingly helpful, e.g. I couldn't load the timetable online so the scanned and emailed me one. Italian trains are excellent IMO.

It's pretty easy - I made a similar journey 2 weeks ago.

You need to get the train up to the Brenner, then down to Fortezza. From there you need to change on to a Brunico train.

The only hold-up will be at Brenner where the train crew change from Austrain to Italian.
