Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cure for Squeaky Boots

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hey, hopefully my fellow Snowheads will be able to help me with my recent dilema.

Took the ski gear down from the attic last night in advance of trip to Avoriaz on Saturday. Skis were fine with no rust on edges (had treated with Zardoz Notwax before putting away). Decided to give the boots a couple of hours wear to get my feet used to them, all was going well until i actually started to walk in the boots and I noticed a suqeak from my right boot around the outside of my ankle. Had a look and cant see anything which might cause this. Can i just spray some WD40 around the area or is this likely to damage the boot (Nordica Speed Machine 10).

If it helps, the squeak doesnt sound metallic, more like a plastic squeak where the upper section of the boot meets the lower.

Please help guys, i couldnt stand a week of listening to this. It is worse than chalk on a blackboard.

Thanks,

Neil.

You can get plastic and nylon lubricant from halfords that should do the job on it with less risk of damaging the shell. Intended for squeaky dashboards.

Graphite (2B pencil) also works well on plastics

thedavman, I will be very surprised if it is loud enough to be heard when skiing, over the sound made by your skis on the snow.

I hadnt thought of that Alex.

Will spray some Son of a Gun on the area this evening and see how that works, otherwise the GF won't let me wear them till we get to resort.

Out of curiosity whatare the ski shops like in Avoriaz? The GF is on the lookout for some new clothing and was v.disappointed with the shopping in Flaine at Christmas.
