Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Which ski-pants for 32" waist, 34" inside leg?

Hi

Can anyone offer any advice on the best ski-pants for my size.
So far I have always ended up with short legs or baggy bottoms!

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Regards

Sticky Bun, I think you'll just have to have a massive trying-on session. I'm surprised you have difficulty, your sizing seems quite usual! Where are you based?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I have a size S Killy softshell which is perfect for the same stats Wink

Last week we fitted a load of Patagonia gear as next years uniform for the skischool, and we were told they can do the legs 'short', 'normal', and 'long'
Size M/normal was supposed to be good for me.

Masque, my OH has 32" waist & 32" inside leg - and he's not remotely lardy. Mind you, he doesn't ski, so it's not as if he's perfect. This is assuming I've got the " right and it does mean inches rather than feet... Toofy Grin

I see these references to Lardies all over the place - Lardy Skiing, EoSB Lardy Bus - can you explain further? I understand the individual concepts, I think - Gravity's the stuff that makes one go downhill whether one wants to or not (with assistance from Wax), Grace is a nebulous concept one strives to achieve, and Gourmet involves breaking for lunch for 2 hours then dozing it off in a deckchair afterwards. But I don't think I have yet understood the broader concept. I sit at your feet, guru Puzzled wink

Masque, Try skiing more. I'm down to a 30" waist even after a week full-board at a 4* hotel in Italy.

I am very happy with my Beyond-X pants.

Arc’teryx do slightly longer legged pants - might be worth trying.

LOL - great responses Very Happy

I've been a regular skier for years and always suffered from legs at "half mast". Now it's time for a fresh pair of ski-pants and I'm determined to get some that fit properly. At least now I have some brands to start off with for the big (or little) try-on session.

(Based in Surrey, UK)

Many thanks all

Sticky Bun, if you're thinking of coming to London for a spot of shopping, try Southampton St near Covent Garden - 4 skiwear shops on the street, saves tramping around!

I agree with Fox Hat. I am same dimensions and have a pair of Arc`teryx Stinger bib pants. They come in short/regular/long leg lengths, I have the regular and think it is perfect, but if you are long in the legs, try those.
Expensive, but great quality.

Npbody is going to carry too many Long lenghts... you just have to hope the shop you visit has a good choice. For example...try finding Arcteryx long lenghts that they advertise... also, they do medium and specific waist sizes......???

You have to try to buy... and that throws mail-order mostly out of the frame...maybe that is the point.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Sticky Bun, I had the same problem, seem to have put on a bit of weight in recent years which makes things a bit easier. In my experience any long leg sizes disappear at the beginning of the season and don't get re-stocked in the UK.
I ended up buying online from the US. I would try http://www.backcountry.com/ or http://www.sierratradingpost.com/ but don't expect a lot of choice. Dropping an e-mail to check what they've got saves a lot of frustration.

You can de-risk buying online by trying the standard length version in the UK.

Happy hunting.

I'm the same measurement and I got some of these in Medium : http://www.skiwear4less.com/acatalog2/acatalog/Vertical_Pant.html
They need a belt (or the braces - I use a belt) but are fine. As has been said, need to try 'em on though.
(And I refuse to call them 'pants' Confused Wink )
