RobW, So on day one when you have a problem what do you do? get a flight back to the UK or do they come to you? |
Day one I'll be on an artificial slope a few miles away. From my observations of skiers (as an instructor, not as a boot fitter) when boots are first fitted they can often seem fine - but after skiing in them for a few weeks or so, some fine tuning is needed. Normally by then you are no longer in the resort you bought the boots.
For example, a good friend of mine developed a problematic ankle 6 months after getting his boots. This resulted in a major blowing out of the shell being required: because he'd bought them in the UK, he was able to return to the shop and they did the work free of charge. But if he'd brought them in a resort, returning to the shop would have been totally impractical - apart from which as it was the middle of summer the shop would probably have been closed!

No mate, only moved here about five years ago. Three years on Elm Row, then the last two near the Cricket Club. Don't know if we know many people at the cricket club but I'm down there often and fairly active member.

RobW, I think you will find that most problems occur in the first few day's and unless you live within a couple of miles from a dry slope and can spend up to eight hours or more on them. It might be better to buy your boot's in resort.
