Hi,
we are a family of 5 who are desperate for accomodation anywhere nearish to Morzine for 1 night only on 7th March. I'm desperate - any ideas appreciated!

Cheap or decent? What is nearish?
Cheap - stay in a L'Etap or Formula 1 - several within an hour - about 40e a night for a room and depending on how small the bins, you'll all fit in one room if you need to.
Close - I've stayed at the Crycher (not sure on spelling) in Les Gets (a few miles down the road) which is very decent quality, ski in ski out and on the same lift system.
You should have no trouble finding accomodation for one night at that time of year. I have stayed at the Crycher by simply turning up and getting a room without booking. Sure you will find somewhere no problem.

 not sure how you come to that conclusion, professorpool. It's the Paris half term holidays, one of the busiest weeks of the French year. Hotels which are not full this week will be few and far between - and possibly heading for bankruptcy.

BTW, not sure on hotels but quite a few apartments still unbooked for the weeks beginning the 1st and the 8th (just checked). Would be surprised to hear someone was unable to book a room somewhere..

Thanks all,
Managed to get booked into the slummiest looking Chambre D'Hote I've seen in a long time. It's call Chalet La Pastourelle in Morzine, but what do you expect at 118 euros for all 5 of us 
Anyone heard of it? Lets hope we're pleasantly surprised...
