, however the warm weather looks likely to continue for the next week... bringing the frightening prospect of rain on lower slopes.
Many snowHeads have returned from France this week with continued reports of great holidays under blue skies, and slopes holding up well to the half term crowds.
Tignes has had beautiful spring conditions last week, and both the on and off piste is still in reasonable nick. The story from
Les Arcs and
La Plagne is similar, with happy snowHeads reporting skiing under blue skies, but a growing need for new snow to freshen things up.
Les Deux Alpes did get a dusting of fresh snow last week, however not enough to make a significant change to conditions, which remain good, although very tracked out off piste. It's the same story in
Val Thorens, with conditions holding up, despite a need for new snow. Good skiing is also reported in the
Portes du Soleil with fantastic weather. Elsewhere in France, updated reports are needed on
Morillon,
Montgenevre,
Serre Chevalier,
Val d'Isere,
La Rosiere,
Alp d'Huez, and
Chamonix, so if you've just returned from any of these reports a quick update on the relevant thread would be much appreciated.
Austrian, resorts are possibly suffering a little more than the big French resorts as a result of their lower elevation and the warm weather and more snow is needed.
Kitzbuhel is getting very slushy on the lower slopes,
St Anton is also having unseasonably warm weather.
Zell am See could also use some new snow to refresh conditions. Any news on
Ischgl,
Schladming, or any other Austrian resorts would be very helpful.
We could also use an update on conditions in
Switzerland where things are starting to look a little patchy in places after the half term with new snow needed to refresh things.
Laax has spring conditions with soft bumps on and off the piste, and
Gstaad needs more snow to improve conditions. Any news on
Zermatt or the other Swiss resorts would be very helpful.
Elsewhere in Europe things are much the same. The
Dolomites are holding up well, the
Pyrenees are not so good. An update on
Courmayeur would be appreciated.
Tahoe and
Fernie continue to have a great season. Updates are needed on
Whistler and
Sunshine village.
Discussion as to what the future may hold continues
here.
As always thanks to all those who've contributed pictures and snow reports, we couldn't do it without you. Any queries or corrections please feel free to start a thread in
Snow Reports or
PM the weatherHead.
