Has any just got back or even better is out there now . We are heading over on the 1st of march and would love to hear some good news as temps have been warm over the past fortnight. Any news would be good snow this week would be great just to top up what has receeded [/b]

I've bene back a week, so this will be outdated....but they could have done with a top up of snow then. They were using the cannons where possible, and managing to keep things okay. I only had one really scary moment on black 14 when I came across sheet ice on one of the steep sections (you know the stuff that looks like glass and extends the whole width of the slope!). The next morning I noticed that they had put up signs warning people.......a bit late for me!

Smokin Joe, just to clarify.....I wasn't the guide that time 
fakie, Saalbach is a bus ride away (about 20 mins I think). Worth doing for a day. Crazy Daisies is the place for apres ski.....but not sure about for a 12 yr old! The cafe at the top of Schmittenhoe has an all day party going on - just beware of falling off the stage/tables while dancing!
Zell has a good ice rink, swimming pool etc that the 12 yr old may enjoy.

I'm a bit frazzled after a day in Zell - it was very warm today! Lower slopes very slushy as a result. Currently all the runs are open although black 15 (from Sonnenalm to the valley) is looking very near it's end. Some snow may fall at the end of the week but probably only at the top as it's very warm. I'l update more later in the week...

Colder weather helped to improve conditions in Zell today - runs to resort were soft but not as slushy as they have been the past couple of days. It snowed for about a minute this morning...ha! Might get some more over the weekend at the top if we're lucky, especially on Sunday.

Just got back from zell am see today weather had turned colder and we had 2 days of snow kaprun had waste height powder in parts pistes in great condition some runs icey but higher runs well groomed and snow making has been taking place was snowing again as we left sat morning so any one there this week should be in for a good one the forecast should see Zell through until the end of the season.

fakie, ditto, just got back yesterday, and really enjoyed the second part of the week skiing on freshies three mornings in a row! As you say good grooming and an excellent base. I found conditions good right the way down to the Schmittental lifts on Wed/Thur/Fri. Bottom of Areit and City Xpress a bit softer, but still good skiing. Sonnenalm fun to play in the powder mid-week.
Had two private lessons for the first time in years, with the Zell Am See ski school (based at the lift stations), and really enjoyed making fast progress. Excellent instructor and good deal from the ski school in general.
Enjoyed Saalbach on Thursday too, - good to have a ski away day sometimes.
