I get very cold ankles so I've always tucked my thermals into my ski boots. Is thing the correct thing to do?

SMALLZOOKEEPER, if you can tuck your thermals into your ski boots, it means the boots are too big. You need to find yourself a good bootfitter who will get you into a better-fitting pair.

SMALLZOOKEEPER, .... yes .. this is the correct thing to do, but this on it's own will not gurantee full satisfaction. When thermals are snugly over ankles, bind them thoroughly with duck tape and a cable tie each so that they don't ride up after many hours of skiing. To provide full comfort and utilise the insulatitive qualities of your thermals, it's best to tuck your shirt in at the top and bind this also with duck tape which will also act as a very efficient snowskirt ....

I got my boots fitted at some place in Chamonix. I can get a whole fluffy sheep down each boot to keep my ankles warm.

Try using expanding foam , squirt in top on the first morning whilst having breakfast and it should be set by the time you reach first lift. Excess can be trimmed off with a sharp knife
