Hi. I've never flown Ryanair. I'm thinking of using them later this season. I notice that when you buy the ticket it asks you then how many bags you're taking and if you're taking skis. You appear to get hit with a double charge if you don't tell them about check in bags. Troube is at the time of booking I won't have decided if I'm taking skis and check in luggage or not (depends on my final destination which depends on snow/partners). The skis/luggage fee will add up to £65 which I don't want to pay unless I'm actually going to use it.
Does anyone know if you can add bags/skis after you've booked but before you check in and avoid the penalty charges (i.e. just pay the 'normal rate') and avoid paying altogether if it turns out you only need hand luggage?

sbentley, No you can't it's either pay up now or pay more later, they have to pay for those cheap flights you know!

I've done this with Easyjet, another reason to stay away from Ryanair.....

Yes - you can add Bags / skis after, via the telephone only though. Charge is the same AFAIK as if you had booked them originally.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

sbentley, as a rule of thumb with SnowHeads "Airline of the Year" if you assume that the answer to every question is the one that is worst and most expensive for you, you'll be right 99% of the time

sbentley, Try business class on BA or Swiss - it will probably work out cheaper in the end.

Peter Ross, Helly,
Having had to add ski equipment after booking I can confirm that if's a tenner more (return) than when doing it at the time of booking...I also was shocked to see the charge went up recently from £15.50 per flight to £25 and £30 if by phone!

I flew from East Midlands to Salzburg and back last week with Ryanair. It was a pleasant experience from start to finish.

The power of positive spin... just got an email from Ryanscare and it says they're having a web closing down sale whilst they shut their "old web site" down for three days to "improve it". Nothing to do with the government legislation about having to show prices including taxes then, that you've been avoiding doing for ages and are now getting fined for? Gits.
