Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Risoul or Alpe d'Huez...which would be better?

Hi!
My brother and I are wanting to go snow boarding next week (I know....very last minute!) and we've found two offers that look - one is in Risoul (Le morgan hotel) and the other is in Alpe d'Huez (Vallee Blanche hotel).

Does anyone have any experience of these two? Is one going to be noticeably better than the other? We are both snow boarders of intermediate standard and would be more interested in good quality snow/pistes than things like shops/nightlife, etc.

Any help & guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks very much...

Hi there,

I've been to Risoul a few times, but not Alpe D so can't compare. However, I've done a resort report on Risoul if that helps. Look at the resort reports thread at the top of this forum.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'd recomend Alpe D from experience, but have never been to Risoul as the trip I was due to take there got moved to La Plagne due to lack of snow in about 2003! Cool

Personally I'd alwys go for the higher resort this time of year too, as everything can and does turn to mush / bulletproof pack in a couple of days low down so a glacier is good insurance.

Hope it's a good-un, and if you do hit Alpe D then I'd recommend La Foret and Chateau Noir for the days and Smithys for the nights... Toofy Grin
