I have been skiing now for 2 seasons. The last 2 years i have made do with a suit for aldi (as not wanting to be an idiot in a nice suit but not knowing what to do) i have been looking around on the internet at stuff but been very confused what to get i have around £250 to spend. I have seen a few spyder jackets and salloppets in that prices range but not sure to buy or not was just looking for some advice. My wife and i are addicted to going sking each year and keeping it up durring the year at the snow dome.
so any help on a good durable suit would be great.

adib666, if you are seeing Spyder jackets and salopettes for £250 you're either lucky or they are fakes. Thought they were more expensive than that. You can get some good kit for far less money than that.

When you say suit do you mean you want the same make of jacket and salopettes? Its not necessary, you can mix and match. You won't be escorted off the piste.
Unless you have serious technical requirements, go for comfort. Be careful about buying from internet unless you've tried them on. I've tried on lots of jackets supposedly the same size but their cut can be quite different and feel completely different.
In the lower budget range I can say that Dare2Be, Trespass, Surfanic are fine.

adib666, I love Colorado gear.
I used to fall over alot, and found it very durable and waterproof, also keeps me warm and dry on wet chairlifts. I always manage to find some in TK Maxx at bargain prices - tho I always buy from the children's section, being shorty mcshort.

I love Helly Hansen myself - even though they're not famed for being the best make ever they're good for middle of the range budgets and always kept me warm and dry. If the £250 is just for yourself then that's plenty for good recreational skiing trousers and jacket. I'm a big fan of ebay for my stuff - I find out what size I am in a particular brand and then search for items on ebay. Just bought a pair of Orage trousers for the other half - £130 in the shops and £26 inc postage form ebay. Arrived today and they're brilliant - brand new with all tags on (they're just a season out of date is all..) This is a good way of getting expensive, quality items at low prices - I can get items for the same prices in the shops they're just low quality!

I have had HH gear and it's been good. This year have splashed out on much more expensive jacket & pants, as had special birthday, but it's really not necessary. I would strongly agree withJeraff about those brands he mentioned and also add a couple of others (Swedish I think) Cross and also Five Seasons. Columbia also good & reasonable brand.

I've had some great experiences with Oakley gear - i'm lucky enough to have an Oakley outlet within a few miles so it doesn't break the bank either. This year i picked up a new jacket and pants for £150 reduced from £400.

North Face Hyvent good. I junked my 12 year obssesion with gore tex gloves for hyvent. Hyvent jackets will replace my aging xcr tnf jacket too.

I just bought myself a Rip Curl jacket They use the same fabric as Spyder for their technical range, and it is much cheaper.

For a very good value for money jacket I strongly recommend the Keela Munro. I see they do salopettes, too. Judging by the quality of the jacket, they'll be good - but I can't say from my own experience, as I wear Schoeffel ones (very good).

My clothing started off with Nevica jacket and pants which weren't the best but looked pretty and lasted 1 season. Moved onto Columbia with a Boogaboo jacket and bugabib salopettes. 3 Seasons. Berghaus Mera Peak jacket while bugabibs kept going. Pants replaced by Whitestuff, but weight gain put paid to them, bought some more columbia pants. Past 5 years have used a North Face Mountain jacket with berghaus big wall salopettes. Must admit you pay for what you get, and Nik Wax keeps gore tex truckin on.

adib666, You may like to go to Xscape at Milton Keynes which houses a Trespass shop. Depending on when you want to buy, Ellis Brigham are in there too and will no doubt have a sale after Easter. They had some good buys last year. Several other ski/climbing related shops in the complex too but they tend to be on the pricey side. Nice just to browse though.
