Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

1/ Which resorts for good late season skiing

louised, welcome to Snowheads. The general advice for late season skiing would be to go to a resort with high altitude skiing available - somewhere like Val Thorens, Tignes, Les Deux Alpes. Though there could well be good skiing lower down. There are usually some good dumps of snow in April, though they tend not to last long at lower altitudes. Slope aspect is also important - you need some slopes softened by the sun in the morning, and others which don't get hammered by the sun and will still be reasonably firm in the afternoon. Last April was ridiculously warm Hot, even. Obviously nobody knows what will happen this year but early April is often far better than early January, all round.

Your problem will be weekend accommodation, which can be difficult to arrange in advance because so many places will only take Saturday/Saturday bookings, particularly in France. However, I don't think that will be a very busy so you can probably afford to wait till much nearer your departure, see what the snow is like, and then book some accommodation at the last minute, when places with vacancies will probably be glad of some guests. There'll be lots of useful suggestions coming along, including from some Snowheads who have chalets and apartments which might be available.

most of the resorts with a lot of high altitude skiing are a fair drive from Geneva. But if there's still good snow around you could do well somewhere like Flaine, which is very close. You'd need to decide nearer the time.

louised, Verbier...? 1.5 hours from GVA, and still loads of skiing then. Accomodation on www.verbier.ch. Please don't go to LesMerdeAlps twice in one season... there is sooo much more to the Alps than that dump... Confused
