In an effort to coin this new term, Ski Utah and Winter at Westminster have teamed up with The Addictionary (an online dictionary) to run the contest. ...There are two goals and two chances to win. One goal is to add to the general glossary of skier and snowboarder lingo and name the best new word for 2008. The other is to come up with that one word to describe both skiing and snowboarding. There will be one winner in each category.
The contest runs until March 4th. The winners will be chosen by a panel of celebrity judge The prizes include two 2 day pass for The Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah and 10 T-shirts featuring their winning words.

I thought that Skiing was the "catch-all term" and that the specifics were cross country, alpine, telemarking and snowboarding.
