Poster: A snowHead

Considering seriously dumping my 15-year-old faithful, comfortable, nostalgically odorous but heavy Salomon X-Waves for a new pair of Dalbello Virus or Garmont Endorphin touring boots.
Admittedly, I've not done much research as a I could (apart from discovering Dalbellos are supposed to be a narrow fit) but they're not brands you hear a lot about.
Any sHs have experience or knowledge of these and care to share?
(e.g. are they compatible with Dynafit bindings?).
Thanks in advance.

I found the Dalbellos to feel very upright, but I only tried them on in a shop. I haven't tried the Garmont's but I did end up with a pair of Dynafit Zzeus.
The Balbellos ARE Dynafit binding compatible from what I remember.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I don't think that the Garmont Endorphin is a current model. I have Garmont Shoguns and I think they are excellent but they aren't compatible with Alpine bindings. The Delerium might be worth a look - has AT (dynafit compatible) and Alpine sole blocks and looks super-beefy. Might not be much of a weight saving vs what you have already. Supposedly have a wide last
I tried on a pair of Viruses when they first came out. Nice boot but didn't fit quite as well as the Garmonts - a little narrow for me. The walk mode mechanics looked a complicated also so I was a bit wary of being a field tester of new tech in its first year

also, IIRC not all Dalbello models are Dynafit compatible. this may have changed but best advice is to check the specs carefully

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

CH2O, the new high performance/light weight garmonts look interesting. still plenty of life in my Shoguns though

Arno, It's a massive backwards step IMO. Basically a lighter weight Megaride.

Thanks all. Very helpful. Didn't know the Viruses were new last season - I too am wary about being a field tester for new tech.
CH20, I'll check out next season's offerings although a major part of the attraction at the moment is the price I can get on last season's models.
Cheers

Big Paua, Viruses have been out for a couple of seasons and I think they may have tweaked the walk mode - haven't been following too closely so some quality time on wildsnow.com will give you all the details I am sure
