Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

My guess is the top section of Ski Welt should be OK. Skiing to the bottom of the chairlift stations may be another matter.

Austria has a lot of snow and Ski Welt is their biggest resort fully linked at the top by 7 satellite areas. In late March there should be plenty skiing there. What you could be losing out may be the opportunity to ski down to the bottom of the chairlifts when the weather is so hot that the snow deficit could not be made good with snow making machines.
When you ask people working in the skiing industry for advice their reply can be honest as you will be able to ski, possibly over 85% of the available piste by end of March. With cold weather you could hit 100% piste availability easily in this trip.

dminor, didn't mean to be too negative - I'm sure you'll get plenty of skiing... I was there in December and the whole circuit was plastered with snow. Cracking area - I love it there

dminor, It was dumping down when we left on Saturday!! We've skied this area in late March before and had no problems even with skiing down to the bottom lifts....to be fair we were skiing on white(ish) strips through green fields, ducks and cows but it could be done!! It's mainly pasture so doesn't need much to keep the pistes open.

OMG - if you'd stayed to Sunday you would have had a 'champagne' day - absolutley blue skies and lots of fresh stuff to attack - one of the all-time best days skiing...

I have been to Ellmau in early March; we had good snow depths but 'spring' (ie slushy) conditions in the afternoons. Most of the ski schools appear to shut in mid-March as they were having their farewell parties the week we were there!
