Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

There aren't many blue slopes, but if she has been skiing reds at all, then tere are some easy reds there.

Just been for first time to Schladming this year, main slopes on Planai are not easy for an absolute beginner but as above the reds aren't bad if its for a wobbly 2nd/3rd weeker. There is easier beginner terain from the Rohrmoos lift station which might be worth a try. In general the slopes aren't too difficult so shouldn't fair too badly. I'd probably avoid the resort runs home though on Planai, a red and a black, both were a bit icy whilst we were there

Try Haus, just down the road from schaldming. Can ski between Planai (schladders local hill) and Haus or bus it down there. Or slightly further a field is Fageralam, just up the road from Reiterlam. A small family ski area, 2 rather slow chairs to go up first so pick a sunny day. nice gentle slopes, quieter than the main ski areas. Or try Rittersberg (not sure of spelling) up at Ramsau - also a very nice area for cross country skiing and walks, great scenery. Bus runs every hour or so to Ramsau from Schladming. The same bus will carry on to the Dachstien glacier cable car - could ski up on the glacier - very gentle blues, stunning views on a sunny day.

It sounds to me as if the straight answer to the OP's questions is "not really". Let's hope he hasn't yet decided where to go...... Either way, the best way to build somebody's shattered confidence is going to be with private ski lessons with an instructor chosen for his patience with wobbliness and, preferably, his stunning good looks.

blues on haus, or rohrmoos area. Even the most nervous would be fine at the latter it's just a minor faff to get to from some places. be warned there are a lot of very fast skiers at schladming ime, if the nervousness includes a dislike of high speed slope users definately head to the rohrmoos end which is pretty quiet. aj xx

snowboard, drive/get the bus to Fageralm - once on the top there are easy blues great for building confidence. Leave the Schladming slopes to later in the week. And lessons are well worth it. Very Happy

second flangesax btw - had forgotten about fageralm but would be fab for anyone needing to gain confidence, we always build in a quick visit. Searsh for a post in the 'Resorts' forum titled 'Schladders' I think there are a few run by run reports in there which might help

agree with what's been said. Also worth a trip up to Stoderzinken (go through Grobming). It's very tiny but all natural snow and usually very quiet. Piste maps show mainly reds but they certainly aren't. Excellent are for a beginner to gain a bit of confidence; all buttons/tbar though but not tough ones so again good for learning. Nice restaurant where you can sit outside watching with a beer/coffee while wobbly wife does a bit of practice on the run outside Cool

snowboard,

Ramsau is very scenic and has a couple of easy and quiet nursery slopes, as well as a bigger area at the end of the valley (Rittisberg?). The cross-country is excellent and goes from very easy to very hard. Depending on what your wife is 'wobbly' about, she might like that better. The instruction looked to be efficient too and the ski-hire was the best I have encountered anywhere. Lots of cosy places to stop for "Kaffee und Kuchen" although they have a disconcerting tendency to add a slug of firewater to everything.
