Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

La Plagne 1800: Any suggestions??

 Poster: A snowHead

hi there,

Me and a friend are heading to La Plagne 1800 on saturday, we were booked for Val d Isere but the travel company over booked the hotel (tossers) and this was the only alternative. Does anybody know if the nightlife is any good in LP1800, or whether its better to head to main La Plagne - if so, is main La Plagne any good? Either way, any information/advice would be gratefully recieved!

cheers & happy skiing/boarding

lpshippen, we were staying in Plagne 1800 a few weeks ago. La Mine is a really good bar - we spent far too much time/money in there! They have live bands on most days, with a short apres-ski set from 5-6pm then a longer set from about 9pm. We saw a duo called Zen (guitarist & flautist) - really fun, lots of things work very well with a flute instead of a lead guitar, as you will no doubt discover for yourselves... Very Happy - & also another duo (can't remember their names, sorry) with a guitarist & percussionist (bongos, beatbox, lots of stuff) who were great as well. I think they're all there for the season, so it's worth a look. The Edelweiss beer on draught is rather yummy, too...
But it really depends on what you want from nightlife... we are not exactly in the first flush of youth so a decent band in a pub with nice beer suited us very well! I don't think there's much in the way of clubs in 1800 (if anything...).

Have a lovely holiday! snowHead

The other apres pub in LP1800 is the P'tit Chaperon Rouge next to the eponymous restaurant at the foot of the 1800 chair.

Plagne Centre is full of bars, No'blem does a happy hour, but mostly in the Ecrins shopping arcade which is scuzzy to say the least.

Try picon biere - eurofizz + picon orange liqueur.

Your money will go a lot further in LP 1800 than Val Despair

Never thought of night life in LP as any good.
La mine for a quiet beer.

There is a dutch bar in plagne centre which is quite lively for apres (sorry can't remember the name)

Bad form from the travel co!

If it's any consolation, nightlife in Val D ain't that great anyway.

If you do want to go out in centre the free buses run pretty frequently to take you up there and a lot of the bars have a free minibus to take you home - as long as you are sober enough to understand where it will pick you up! Your other option is to take a plastic bag and 'slide' down the piste to 1800, although I wouldn't advise that if there is any ice around!
