Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowboard - T-Bar Technique

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We are going skiing with a larger group than normal and this time a few are going to try snowboarding for the first time. I have always skied so my technical understanding of all things "tray" is limited. From my experience I have always noticed that T-bars pose one of the greatest obstacles to beginner boarders and was wondering if you could shed some light on your experience and techniques for conquering this dreaded lift.

Thanks

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Shove relevant half of T-bar behind front leg.
Carry on up mountain.
Don't try getting on with someone else.

Easier than regular poma lifts, in fact.

From my boarding experience - plan careful routes which avoid T-Bars and other drags at all times wink

PowderHunter, Find an easy one in the beginners area to practice on. Some in the main area's can be quite 'aggressive'. I remember being launched a couple of meters down the track when I tied a 'proper' one for the 1st time.

But, T-Bars and Poma's often take you to the more interesting places so they are well worth getting the hang of. Keep your weight over your front foot. On more tricky sections you may need to use very small toe/heel movements to keep on the track.
