The International Olympic Committee (IOC) launched the bidding process to host the 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2012 yesterday. Letters were sent out to all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) informing them of the procedure and the documentation available for cities interested in bidding for the Games. The games will feature seven sports on the Winter Olympic programme of the 2014 Games in Sochi, and include about 1,000 athletes aged 14-18....NOCs will have to inform the IOC of candidate cities by March 6th, and submit bid files by June 19th. A panel of experts will then propose a short list of candidate cties in August, and the IOC will vote on the host city by postal ballot in November. The winner will be announced in December.
