Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snow report 23rd January 2008

jbob having fun in Chamonix
All in all a great week to be skiing as more snow in Europe has meant good piste conditions this week, with deep powder on the more sheltered faces where snow has built up by drifting, and as Scotland continues to go from strength to strength, even the Yad Moss tow in the north of England was open this week... North America has a good base, with fresh snow in many resorts, although Whistler is enjoying blue sky skiing for a change.

News from our intrepid reporter in the Tarentaise
Excellent reports are coming in thick and fast from all over France with the fresh snow on a well established base leading to fantastic conditions. Montalbert and La Plagne are skiing very well as is Les Arcs. The other French super resorts have very similar conditions and great skiing in Tignes and Val d'Isere. Val Thorens and the rest of the Three Valleys are holding up well despite warmer than usual weather for January.
Montalbert La Plagne
Avoriaz, Les Deux Alpes, and Serre Chevalier have all been refreshed by new snow as well. We've also had some great pictures of conditions from Chamonix and a report of a fun trip to La Clusaz.

Tree skiiing in Schladming
In Austria, although there is still good cover, a combination of the lower resorts and warmer weather has meant some rain and sleet at resort level, although conditions up the mountain are still very good. Schladming, and Obertauern are both in very good nick, as is St Anton.

Gstaad
The Swiss resorts are also in good shape with "unreal" conditions in Verbier, a great sunny day in Zermatt, and a foot of fresh snow in Laax, but mixed conditions in Gstaad, although they certainly look nice enough in the pictures on the thread.

Elsewhere across Europe, in Italy conditions on piste in Cervinia, La Thuile, and The Dolomites are good, if a little springlike towards the bottom. Andorra also skied well last week.

In North America Tahoe has had about five feet of fresh this week, so conditions should be excellent. In Canada both Fernie and Whistler have been relatively dry this week, meaning that most skiing has been on the groomers under perfect blue skies.

There has also been more snow in the UK this week, allowing the rope tow at Yad Moss to open this week, and of course Scotland continues to have an excellent season.

Discussion as to what the future may hold continues here.

As always thanks to all those who've contributed pictures and snow reports, we couldn't do it without you. Any queries or corrections please feel free to start a thread in Snow Reports or PM the weatherHead. snowHead
